[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Plantynet announced on the 23rd that it has signed a tripartite agreement with the Gyeonggi Branch of the Korea Youth Shelter Association and the Department of Youth Studies at Gyeonggi University to support the proper and safe internet use of out-of-home youth in the Gyeonggi area.
Through this agreement, Plantynet will provide the internet safety service ‘PC Guard’ free of charge to youth shelters in the Gyeonggi region. It will lead efforts to protect out-of-home youth from harmful content, security threats, and game/internet addiction, while fostering an enjoyable and beneficial internet culture for youth.
Youth shelters in the Gyeonggi area support out-of-home youth to grow into healthy members of society by offering counseling, education, job experience and employment, and self-reliance support programs. Approximately 31 such shelters operate within Gyeonggi Province.
Jeon Jongsu, head of the Gyeonggi Branch of the Korea Youth Shelter Association, said, “We appreciate Plantynet’s support in helping out-of-home youth grow healthily,” adding, “We hope for continued interest from the local community and more companies regarding youth protection and support.”
The Department of Youth Studies at Gyeonggi University agreed to cooperate in advisory and research activities to protect the internet environment not only for out-of-home youth but for all children and adolescents. Song Minkyeong, head of the department at Gyeonggi University, said, “As the harmful media and information accessible to youth have diversified recently, we hope this becomes an opportunity for companies and government-related agencies to actively cooperate in efforts to improve the harmful internet environment.”
Meanwhile, as part of its ESG management, Plantynet actively promoted this free support for youth shelters and plans to continue social contribution activities by extending support to youth protection facilities, childcare facilities, and elderly welfare facilities nationwide.
Kim Hoojong, CEO of Plantynet, said, “We are pleased that Plantynet’s technological assets can help secure the PC environment within youth shelters in the Gyeonggi area,” adding, “We support the healthy growth of out-of-home youth who are often in welfare blind spots, and we will continue to focus on ESG management and strive to be a company that exerts positive influence.”
Meanwhile, since 2006, Plantynet has been providing ‘PC Guard’ to metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide through the ‘Information Dysfunction Prevention System Construction Project,’ striving for a clean and safe internet environment for children and adolescents. ‘PC Guard’ is Plantynet’s representative internet safety management service. Based on a database (DB) of over 9 million high-quality harmful content entries, it can quickly block illegal and harmful sites. It also includes functions to prevent cyber security threats such as ransomware and malware, as well as usage time management features to prevent game and internet overuse and addiction.
