Suwon City Conducts 'Sample Inspection' of Household Waste in Apartment Complexes... Until the 30th

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province began sample inspections of incineration waste generated from apartment complexes with more than 3,000 households starting on the 23rd.

This sampling is organized by the Suwon City Resource Recovery Facility Resident Support Council and will be conducted at six apartment complexes until the 30th of this month.

During the sampling, the building managers, caretakers, residents, and Suwon city officials will open volume-based waste bags to check for any waste that does not meet the disposal standards.

Suwon City plans to extend the incineration waste sampling to seven apartment complexes with more than 2,000 households in the future.

The city has been implementing a strong policy to reduce household waste since February.

In particular, for buildings that have disposed of waste below the acceptance standards, a "household waste intake suspension" is imposed. The intake suspension is based on the waste acceptance standards outlined in the "Resident Agreement for the Operation of Suwon City Resource Recovery Facility," signed between Suwon City and the Suwon City Resource Recovery Facility Resident Support Council.

A city official explained, "After inspection, buildings found violating the standards will receive a 'first warning.' If non-compliance continues after the first warning, the building will be subject to an 'intake suspension' ranging from 3 days to 1 month. Areas under intake suspension will have their household waste collection services by contracted collection and transportation companies suspended."
