According to the Ministry of National Defense, the Military Prosecution Review Committee members resolved during the 3rd meeting held yesterday afternoon to indict Woon, a warrant officer accused of forcibly sexually assaulting the victim one year ago, on charges of forcible sexual assault against a military personnel.
The review will be delivered to the Ministry of National Defense prosecution team in the form of an opinion letter, and the prosecution team stated that it plans to respect the review opinion and proceed with the disposition according to relevant guidelines. The committee also recommended an investigation regarding the Air Force's suspected 'delayed and minimized reporting' under investigation by the Ministry of National Defense Inspector General's Office, specifically concerning the omission of sexual assault victim facts.
Accordingly, it is expected that the Ministry of National Defense prosecution team will directly investigate the circumstances under which the Air Force omitted the sexual assault victim facts during the initial report to the Ministry of National Defense at the time of Sergeant Lee's death.
