The Life of a Single Mother: The Story Behind a Book?

Jongno-gu Collaborates with Korea Art Psychology Counseling Association to Create Life Book Reflecting Single Parents' Lives, Helping Share with Children

The Life of a Single Mother: The Story Behind a Book? Appearance participating in Lifebook production

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (Mayor Kim Young-jong) will conduct the program "A Comma of Hope, My Life My Story" from June 22 to July 17 to support vulnerable single-parent families.

This program is part of the 2021 Seoul Nonprofit Private Organization Public Interest Activity Support Project and is conducted in collaboration with KAPCA (Korea Art Psychology Counseling Association), which issues various private certifications such as color psychology counselors, play therapy counselors, and integrated art counselors.

The program is designed as a meaningful time to create a lifebook reflecting the challenging times experienced under the name "mom" in single-parent life and to share it with their children.

To this end, Jongno-gu pre-selected 17 participants from Dream Start single-parent families in the area and has already sent related kits.

Additionally, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the program uses Zoom for non-face-to-face group art activities, operating both evening and weekend classes so participants can complete a lifebook containing their own special stories.

Jongno-gu also thoughtfully sent gift kits containing six items such as heart stickers, dolls, fairy tale books, and mood lights to the children of single-parent families participating in the program, helping children have fun while their parents attend the program.

Meanwhile, the program "A Comma of Hope with Video," which produces videos of my life and my life story, will also be held.

The target is 80 single parents residing in Seoul. Participants will be recruited until August 22, and inquiries can be made to the Korea Art Psychology Counseling Association.

Mayor Kim Young-jong said, "This program was prepared for single-parent family parents who may have lacked time and opportunities to reflect on their own lives while raising children," adding, "I hope participants realize that the author of their life is none other than themselves by participating in lifebook production and strengthen their inner strength."
