[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Amid ongoing controversy over the so-called 'Yoon Seok-yeol X-file,' which is said to summarize allegations related to former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, lawyer Shin Pyeong criticized it on the 22nd as "black propaganda in the form of political sabotage." Shin served as the chairman of the public interest whistleblower committee for Moon Jae-in's campaign during the 2017 presidential election.

On the same day, Shin wrote on his Facebook, "'Yoon Seok-yeol's X-file' is circulating. Even someone like me has seen it, so one can imagine how widely it is being distributed," he said.

Regarding the 'X-file,' he pointed out, "It was filled with despicable personal attacks. Even if you disregard Yoon Seok-yeol himself, the human rights of his wife and mother-in-law were mercilessly trampled for unknown reasons," adding, "It was content that seemed to thoroughly crush even the minimum dignity as human beings, as if it was not allowed for them at all." He continued, "Of course, there is no basis for such claims anywhere," and said, "It is just about exposing everything unconditionally."

He went on, "Yoon Seok-yeol is currently a figure preferred by roughly over 30% of the public as the next presidential candidate," and claimed, "This figure is enormous. However, undoubtedly, there is an ongoing effort to bring him down based on black propaganda produced through meticulous work by some organization."

Then, lawyer Shin said, "I witness the silent complicity in the distortion of public opinion by political sabotage, where personal human rights are ruthlessly trampled for the sake of power," and questioned, "Where exactly are we standing now?"

He also said, "It is said that the world has democratized. However, regrettably, the nasty habits of power have not changed at all," adding, "The cries of those resisting the vicious practice of black propaganda by wrongful power are unheard. Only silence weighs heavily on our society."

Finally, Shin declared, "Those who sympathize with the silent cartel in this unprecedented bizarre phenomenon in our constitutional history, whether progressive or conservative, should no longer show themselves," and said, "They have no right to speak of human rights, democracy, or the public good. Their grotesque hypocrisy, masked by a veil of pretense, is simply disgusting."

Meanwhile, on the same day, former Prosecutor General Yoon officially responded through spokesperson Lee Sang-rok, saying regarding the X-file, "Do not engage in political sabotage with an unverified mysterious document," and "I have nothing to hide in front of the people, and if I did, I would not have withstood attacks over the past eight years."
