[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jonghwa] KCC has launched a high-quality water-based automotive repair coating called 'WT5000.' Automotive repair coatings are paints applied over sheet metal repairs on vehicle parts damaged by external impacts.

WT5000 is a base coat product applied after pretreatment during the vehicle painting process. It is a water-based paint product using water as the main solvent and meets all domestic environmental regulations, including the recently strengthened government environmental standards such as the Atmospheric Environment Conservation Act, making it an eco-friendly product.

WT5000 is a 'Ready Mixed (RM)' product, color-matched at the factory before shipment, so it offers excellent workability by replicating the exact color of new cars. It is available in 205 colors, enabling the reproduction of various colors for popular domestic and international car models. Even without professional color-matching skills or equipment, it can replicate the vehicle's original color perfectly, erasing repair traces.

Additionally, by applying special acrylic resin and urethane resin, it offers excellent drying properties. Colors with sparkling pearl pigments spread evenly without clumping, preventing blotchiness and creating a luxurious appearance. For solid colors, the 'Wet on wet' method allows two coats to be applied before the first coat dries, providing optimal work convenience.

KCC also released a dedicated color book for WT5000 to enhance user convenience. The color book has been distributed to automotive repair paint dealers and repair shops. It contains samples of all 205 colors, allowing easy verification of actual colors and enabling immediate painting without a separate color-matching process.

A KCC representative stated, "Since the 1990s when oil-based paints dominated, KCC has continuously developed water-based paints and secured world-class water-based paint technology. We plan to continue developing products that satisfy the rising customer expectations by enhancing the eco-friendliness of paints, diversifying paint colors according to car models, and upgrading products for application to premium vehicles."
