[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 22nd, Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced that it held a signing ceremony for the ‘Korea’s Three Major Arirang Joint Council’ with Jeongseon County and Jindo County at Jeongseon County Office.
The purpose of this agreement is for local governments possessing Arirang, which represents Korea, to contribute to the transmission and development of Arirang through exchanges such as Arirang-related research and joint performances by artistic groups.
Mayor Park Il-ho, Jeongseon County Governor Choi Seung-jun, and Jindo County Governor Lee Dong-jin promised at the signing ceremony to maintain continuous exchange and cooperation so that the three local governments can play a leading role in the transmission, development, and globalization of Arirang.
The three cities and counties plan to jointly implement cooperative projects annually, with Jeongseon hosting this year, Miryang next year, and Jindo the following year, to jointly promote projects related to the development of Arirang.
Mayor Park said, “We are promoting various projects such as research on the current status of Miryang Arirang transmission and academic conferences to globalize the Miryang Arirang brand, and with the formation of this council today, we will devote even more interest and effort.”
