Paid Service Returns to 7 Locations Starting Next Month 1st
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeonnam announced on the 22nd that it will end the free operation of paid public parking lots starting from the 1st of next month.
The city had been operating seven public parking lots free of charge for 1 year and 3 months since March 12 of last year to revitalize the local economy, which had been depressed due to the spread of COVID-19.
However, contrary to the original purpose of revitalizing the local economy, the number of selfish users who engage in long-term parking increased, leading to privatization by certain individuals and a decrease in turnover rate, which intensified complaints from parking lot users. Therefore, it was decided to operate free of charge only until June 30.
Accordingly, starting from July 1, when using the seven public parking lots including Honam, Jungang, Wonhyeong 1, Wonhyeong 2, Donga, Namgyo, and Administrative Town, the first 60 minutes will be free, and then a fee of 500 won will be charged every 30 minutes as before (excluding large vehicles).
