Gurye-gun Opens 'Nature Kids Dream Playground' Where Children Are Happy

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun (Governor Kim Sunho) announced on the 22nd that it has opened the ‘Jayeonai Dream Playground’ within Seosicheon Sports Park in Gurye-eup.

To create the playground, the county formed a joint playground promotion team in August 2019, including parents of local elementary school students, and has steadily proceeded step-by-step through continuous public-private cooperation.

The joint promotion team conducted field surveys of advanced sites, discussions, playground equipment preference surveys, and collected user opinions.

The county went through a proposal contest procedure for the latest design and construction methods and started construction in March.

After completing the installation of playground equipment, safety inspections, installation of information boards, and cleaning around the site, the playground was opened amid high expectations from children.

The approximately 1,000㎡ playground reflects the preferences of children and parents and includes four types of playground equipment: ▲ Dotori Hill, which encompasses rock climbing, slides, skywalk, and net play ▲ Jumping Net, combining trampolines and net play ▲ Zipline, an aerial playground equipment ▲ Rainbow Swing, a wide basket-shaped swing in a rainbow-shaped frame.

The playground’s name was selected from about 50 submissions, with ‘Jayeonai Dream Playground’ proposed by parents in Gurye-eup being chosen.

The name combines ‘Jayeon’ (Nature) from the slogan ‘The Road to Nature, Gurye’ and ‘Ai’ (Child) and ‘Dream,’ the protagonists of the playground and future leaders of the world, expressing the hope that our children will release energy and be happy in nature.

Kim Sunho, Governor of Gurye-gun, said, “I hope our children will run freely, express their dreams and imagination, and grow into clear and bright children resembling nature at the Jayeonai Dream Playground, created through active participation and cooperation of children and residents. We will continue to spare no support in establishing and strengthening the community care foundation to make Gurye a happy place for children.”
