Joo Kyu-il, Mayor of Jinju, Shares Time of Empathy and Communication with Kim Kyung-soo, Governor of Gyeongnam Province Meeting between Jo Gyu-il, Mayor of Jinju, and Kim Kyung-soo, Governor of Gyeongnam Province

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the morning of the 22nd, Cho Gyu-il, mayor of Jinju City, visited the Gyeongnam Provincial Government to have a time of empathy and communication with Kim Kyung-soo, governor of Gyeongnam Province, to resolve urgent city issues such as LH and the Lee Kun-hee Art Museum.

According to the city, this meeting was held at Mayor Cho's request, jointly requesting the government to reconsider the LH innovation plan at the level of dismantlement and focusing on attracting the Lee Kun-hee Art Museum to the southern region.

Mayor Cho expressed gratitude, saying, “It is greatly welcomed that Gyeongnam Province has sought measures to respond to the LH innovation plan and revitalize the innovation city, and I appreciate that we share the seriousness of this issue and seek solutions together.”

He continued, emphasizing that punishment and measures against LH executives and employees involved in real estate speculation are absolutely necessary, and said, “The government's innovation plan undermines the foundation of Jinju Innovation City and hinders national balanced development, so it must be reconsidered.”

He also requested understanding, saying, “The government is prescribing the dismantlement of LH, which is a driving force leading the regional economy and providing quality jobs. Dismantling it would extinguish the spark of hope for local youth.”

Meanwhile, he also asked for the province's active cooperation in attracting the Lee Kun-hee Art Museum to the southern region.

In addition, while explaining local issues such as the construction of a multipurpose cultural center along the Namgang River, he requested active interest and support from Gyeongnam Province.

In response, Governor Kim said, “It is no exaggeration to say that the outcome of the LH innovation plan will determine the direction of balanced development in South Korea,” and added, “From the perspective of national balanced development, Gyeongnam Province also has a task to work on together and a problem to consider together. We will carefully review the city's proposals to ensure they are reflected.”
