Gwangju Fire Headquarters '21st Safe Gwangju Drawing' Contest Call for Entries

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Fire Safety Headquarters announced on the 22nd that it will hold the "21st Safe Gwangju Drawing Contest" until the 16th of next month to raise awareness and promote the practice of safety in daily life.

This contest is divided into two categories: imaginative drawings and posters. The participants for the imaginative drawing category are kindergarten (daycare) children and elementary school students in grades 1 to 3, while the poster category is for elementary school students in grades 4 to 6.

The themes include firefighter activities, prevention of daily safety accidents, fire safety, and topics directly or indirectly related to 119 emergency services.

The artwork should be created using crayons, colored pencils, or watercolors on an 8-cut drawing paper (27 × 39 cm), and submissions are accepted only by registered mail to the nearest fire station’s Prevention and Safety Department.

The city fire safety headquarters will select 60 participants to receive awards such as the Gwangju Mayor’s Award, Gwangju Superintendent of Education Award, and Fire Station Chief’s Award. Winners will be announced on August 20th on the city fire safety headquarters’ website.

Outstanding works selected in this contest will be used for various events to promote safety culture, including exhibitions of winning works and other public interest purposes.

Kim Youngdon, Director of the City Fire Prevention Department, said, “We hope many children will participate in the 21st Safe Gwangju Drawing Contest and take this opportunity to develop an interest in safety.”
