Heatwave Prevention Supplies Delivered to 80 Elderly Paper Collectors and Agricultural Migrant Workers

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Duty Free announced on the 22nd that it has donated funds raised together with its employees to the Beautiful Store Foundation to support elderly paper collectors and agricultural migrant workers vulnerable to heatwaves before the official start of summer.

On the afternoon of the 21st, Lotte Duty Free held a donation ceremony for the 'Beautiful Sharing Bundle' with Beautiful Store at its headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul. The total donation amount was 5 million KRW, raised through the 'Eco Flea Market' by Lotte Duty Free employees, with the company adding matching grants to form the fund. At the donation ceremony, Lee Sang-jin, Head of Marketing Division at Lotte Duty Free, represented the employees and conveyed their heartfelt support.

The 'Eco Flea Market' was first planned as part of an online anniversary event in February to encourage employees to participate in environmental protection in line with Lotte Duty Free’s eco-friendly management slogan, Duty4Earth, and was held three times until May. Employees donated items they owned that could be more valuable to others, and the market operated through an online auction format, allowing communication and purchase of goods.

Proceeds from the Eco Flea Market will be used for Beautiful Store’s climate crisis vulnerable support project, 'Beautiful Sharing Bundle.' This sharing campaign supports those vulnerable to the climate crisis by providing supplies to help them endure heatwaves, funded by corporate sponsorships. Lotte Duty Free is participating as the first sponsoring company for this project. The sharing bundles provided by Lotte Duty Free include cool sleeves, portable fans, insulated tumblers, sun-blocking hats, and summer masks, which will be delivered to about 80 people in July.

Lee Sang-jin, Head of Marketing Division at Lotte Duty Free, said, "We hope this donation will help those who have to endure a difficult summer due to the heatwave," and added, "Lotte Duty Free plans to continue various social contribution activities with employees to protect the global environment."

Meanwhile, in March, Lotte Duty Free became the first in the industry to establish an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Value Pursuit Committee and announced its ESG management vision. At the announcement ceremony, Lotte Duty Free adopted 'Duty4Earth' as its eco-friendly management slogan and plans to participate in the 'plogging' environmental protection campaign?picking up trash while jogging?in the second half of the year, following the Eco Flea Market held in the first half.
