Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to Hold 'Human and Technology Forum' on the 24th

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 22nd that it will hold the "Human and Technology Forum" at 2 p.m. on the 24th in collaboration with the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency.

The forum will be live-streamed online for anyone to watch. Those who wish to view it can apply for participation on the Humanities 360° website by the 23rd and will receive an internet address (URL) to directly access the live broadcast video.

The forum will discuss "the society reflected in technology and inclusiveness." The session will be led by Bang Dae-wook, CEO of the Next Generation Foundation.

In the first part, Professor So-yeon Lim of Sookmyung Women's University will present on the topic "The World Dreamed by ‘Iruda’ and the World Contained in ‘Iruda’." Following this, Professor Dae-cheong Ha of the Department of Basic Education at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology and Senior Researcher Jong-woo Kim of Yonsei University Social Development Research Institute will share their views on "Technology Reflecting the Era, Technology Proposing the Era."

In the second part, Won-ik Park, Vice President of The Milk Korea, will present on "How Silicon Valley Pursues Inclusiveness and Diversity." Then, Professor Moon-jung Choi of the Graduate School of Science and Technology Policy at KAIST and Senior Researcher Se-uk Oh of the Korea Press Foundation will discuss "Concrete Efforts of Technology to Enhance Social Inclusiveness."

The "Human and Technology Forum" was first launched in November last year under the recognition that although technological advancement greatly impacts our daily lives and human existence and lifestyles, discussions on "technology for humans" have been insufficient. The forum aims to spread this awareness in society and seek humanistic solutions.

This year's forum plans to continue with more diverse topics on the third Thursdays of August, October, and November.

A Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism official stated, "While technology in modern society has developed remarkably, it also reflects the darker aspects of society. We hope the forum will encourage reflection on ourselves within technology and consideration of the inclusiveness of technology."
