Coupang stated, "The resignation date of former Chairman Kim as a domestic registered director and chairman of the board was May 31, which was 17 days before the fire occurred. This can be clearly verified through the corporate registry."

They continued, "The resignation registration was completed and publicly disclosed before the fire incident occurred," adding, "Reports by some media claiming that former Chairman Kim resigned after the fire are completely false."
