[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] The Muan Fire Station in Jeonnam (Chief Park Won-guk) announced on the 21st that from the 17th to the 19th, the ambulance team intensively supported the transport of over 30 patients suspected of collective food poisoning in a village in Hyeonggyeong-myeon, Muan-gun.
It is presumed that the cause was eating about 70 lunchboxes together during volunteer activities for installing village safety facilities and mobile laundry visits. Most of the patients were elderly, experiencing symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and fever, with some cases showing decreased consciousness.
A Muan Fire Station official said, “As the summer season begins with intense heat and high humidity, bacterial growth becomes active, and more cases of food poisoning may occur. Especially, seafood should be cooked thoroughly before eating, long-term storage of food in the refrigerator should be avoided, and careful attention should be paid to washing cooking utensils and tableware, as well as eating food immediately after cooking.”
