[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City will hold the 6th International Academic Forum on the theme of "Creative Transmission and Industrialization of Traditional Crafts" at 3 p.m. on the 23rd in the main conference hall of the Jinju Knowledge Industry Center.
Since 2017, the city has jointly hosted forums once or twice a year with the UNESCO Creative Cities Steering Committee and the Jinju Cultural Research Institute on themes such as "Culture and Creativity Leading Sustainable Urban Development."
This year marks the sixth forum, where domestic and international scholars related to crafts will give keynote presentations.
Dr. Renate Breuss from Austria will present on "Ways to Lead Youth to Crafts," and Dr. Maeda Atsuko from Japan will discuss "Human Resource Development Strategies in the Craft City of Kanazawa."
Domestically, Professor Moon Sun-ok from Gyeongsang National University and Professor Seo Seok-min from Andong Science University will present on "Practical Application and Industrialization Strategies of Traditional Crafts." Notably, this forum will feature a special session with Master Kim Byung-soo on "The Tradition and Techniques of Jinju Crafts."
This international academic forum is a linked scholarly event for the "2021 Jinju Traditional Craft Biennale," which the city will host for the first time this November. The forum discussing the creative transmission and industrialization of traditional crafts is expected to serve as an academic foundation for the traditional craft biennale.
