Lee also said, "I think I expressed how difficult and lonely it was in Korea in the wrong way," adding, "I am truly sorry and this will never happen again."
The prosecution stated the charges, "Lee Jun-hee possessed and smoked 3.02g of marijuana last March," and requested a sentence of one year imprisonment and a fine of 200,000 won.
Lee is accused of possessing and smoking marijuana at his home in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. The police responded to a report saying "there is a burning smell" and arrested Lee in the act. It is reported that Lee smoked marijuana alone.
Lee gained popularity after appearing on a cable TV rap competition program in 2016 and has been active since releasing albums.
After the incident, he wrote on his social media, "I admitted my wrongdoing during the police investigation and acknowledged everything as it is," and "I will naturally accept legal punishment."
It is reported that under the Immigration Control Act, which mandates deportation of foreigners sentenced to imprisonment or higher, Lee is likely to be deported to the United States even if he receives a suspended sentence.
