Opening of the Rear Gate of Sungnyemun Starting Tomorrow

The back gate of Sungnyemun will be opened to the public for the first time. On the 21st, the Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Tomb Heritage Headquarters announced that starting from the 22nd, the back gate near Namdaemun Market will be additionally opened. Visitors will be able to freely move between the main gate and the back gate of Sungnyemun. The opening hours will be the same as the main gate, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

An official stated, "Accessibility between Namdaemun Market and Sungnyemun will improve," adding, "We hope this will activate the commercial district and become a positive example of coexistence between cultural heritage and local residents." They also said, "We will establish a cooperative support system with related organizations such as Jung-gu Office, Namdaemun Police Station, and Namdaemun Market Merchants Association to focus on protecting the cultural heritage and ensuring visitor safety."
