Hyundai Construction Unveils Mobile Gallery Service 'The Original Home Gallery' for the First Time

[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Hyundai Engineering & Construction is introducing the art service ‘The Original Home Gallery’ for residents, the first of its kind in the industry.

On the 21st, Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced that it will first apply ‘The Original Home Gallery’ to the ‘Hillstate Pangyo Elfore’ complex located at 210 Daejang-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, where move-ins are currently underway.

In addition, it is scheduled to be applied to the ‘The H Xi Gaepo’ residential complex located in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in August, and will be introduced to other applicable complexes in the future.

Residents can receive guidance from art consultants through reservation visits. The art consultants will analyze the needs and preferences of customers and carefully select and propose artworks that can deliver the best value to the customers and their homes. Even after the exhibition, various services including interaction with artists, art education programs, and membership benefits will be provided to offer residents and their families opportunities to enjoy culture and arts.

‘The Original Home Gallery’ is a platform connecting art creators and consumers, offering a ‘visiting gallery’ service where consumers can appreciate original artworks containing the artist’s philosophy within their homes and hear the stories behind the works from the artists. The interior of a camper van will be set up as a gallery, allowing customers to comfortably enjoy artworks within the complex.

Recently, due to the impact of COVID-19, performances, exhibitions, and cultural art events have been greatly reduced, limiting spaces where people can appreciate and purchase artworks, and opportunities for promising domestic artists to showcase their works have also been limited. In this context, Hyundai Engineering & Construction is the first in the industry to introduce a residential service connecting customers and artists amid the growing consumer interest in cultural life.

‘The Original Home Gallery’ features renowned mid-career artists and emerging artists representing K-Art, showcasing over 1,000 diverse artworks. These works can be appreciated free of charge within the units for up to 30 days. In addition to this exhibition, works by famous domestic artists such as Kim Chang-ryeol, Park Soo-keun, Nam June Paik, and Lee Jung-seop, as well as international works by Tom Wesselmann, Alighiero Boetti, and Robert Indiana, can also be viewed.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction has signed business agreements with companies such as Life Theater ‘Megabox’, online humanities lecture specialist ‘Channel PNF’, urban content company ‘Urbanplay’, and activity platform ‘Frip’ to provide diverse cultural, artistic, and humanities residential service content. This ‘The Original Home Gallery’ was carried out in partnership with the art service specialist company ‘Habiewood’ as part of providing art-related residential service content.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction plans to support active distribution of artworks for artists whose activities have been restricted due to COVID-19 through ‘The Original Home Gallery’, and provide residents with an art enjoyment service that elevates the quality of residential culture.

A Hyundai Engineering & Construction official said, "In a situation where time spent at home has become more important, ‘The Original Home Gallery’ is expected to be a new form of art enjoyment service that can elevate the residential culture enjoyed by residents at home," adding, "Starting with complexes scheduled for move-in this year, we will expand the service and continuously provide Hyundai Engineering & Construction’s premium residential services that also satisfy customers’ sensibilities."
