[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] A man in his 20s who assaulted five residents, including high school girls he had never met before, in an apartment complex while intoxicated has been apprehended by the police.

On the 21st, the Yeonsu Police Station in Incheon announced that they have arrested and are investigating a man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of special assault.

Mr. A is accused of hitting five residents, including high school student Ms. B, with his fists and feet around 10:30 PM the previous day in an apartment complex in Okryeon-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, causing injuries to their eyes and neck areas.

He reportedly assaulted four high school students who were at a playground gazebo within the apartment complex, and also attacked a woman in her 50s who was passing by the street where the victims were fleeing and calling for help.

Mr. A was subdued by residents who came out after hearing the victims' screams and was arrested on the spot by the police who responded to the report. During the incident, Mr. A swung a stone, causing Ms. B to suffer a roughly 1 cm laceration near her eye.

Investigations revealed that Mr. A did not know the victims and was intoxicated at the time of the assault.

A police official stated, "All five injured individuals are currently classified as having minor injuries," and added, "Since Mr. A was intoxicated and the exact circumstances of the crime are not yet clear, further investigation will be conducted." The police plan to investigate the specific details of the assault with Mr. A.
