Porsche Unveils 6th Generation Infotainment System... First Implementation of Android Auto

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Porsche AG unveiled the 6th generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) on the 21st.

First, the 6th generation PCM, installed in the Porsche 911, Cayenne, and Panamera, supports Android Auto for the first time, allowing drivers to integrate Google Android OS smartphones with the Porsche infotainment system, Porsche explained.

Services such as Apple Music and Apple Podcasts are also integrated, enabling Porsche customers to listen to over 75 million songs via internet connection and access millions of free broadcasts on Apple Podcasts.

This service can be activated by linking an Apple ID to the vehicle through the Porsche Connect application (app) or online My Porsche.

Additionally, Porsche's voice recognition feature, Voice Pilot, has been enhanced. After saying "Hey Porsche," the system executes the spoken command. It especially maintains an online connection to continuously learn new phrases. In this way, the 6th generation PCM also supports Over the Air (OTA) updates for electronic control units.

Using real-time traffic information, road colors are displayed differently according to traffic conditions. Through the route monitor, all relevant information can be accessed quickly, and traffic congestion and waypoints along the route are clearly indicated.
