Unlisted Company SK Siltron Publishes Its First Sustainability Report This Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Semiconductor wafer manufacturer SK Siltron announced on the 21st that it has published its first-ever sustainability management report this year.


In this inaugural report, SK Siltron included achievements and plans to strengthen management in the three ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) areas. SK Siltron disclosed the sustainability management activities transparently to stakeholders such as customers, society, shareholders, partner companies, and employees, and continuously communicates by publishing the report on the company website.


Despite being an unlisted company, SK Siltron unusually enhanced the level of non-financial information disclosure by publishing and disclosing a sustainability management report. Additionally, with the publication of this report as an opportunity, the company established ESG policies and goals and plans to apply them throughout management to increase execution power. A SK Siltron official stated, "Through this report, we consolidated company-wide capabilities to spread ESG management across all organizational units."

SK Siltron established "ESG 2030," the direction for promoting ESG management, based on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the materiality assessment results. Furthermore, when composing the report, all standards for sustainability management report preparation recommended by relevant international organizations were fully adopted. The final completed report was verified by the independent third-party certification body, Korea Management Certification Institute, enhancing its reliability and objectivity.


In particular, SK Siltron is proactively responding to climate change in the environmental domain to preemptively secure future business opportunities. It is the first in the global wafer industry to participate in the RE100 declaration and has obtained a total of three initiatives, including carbon footprint certification for all products and zero landfill Gold grade certification for waste. A SK Siltron official said, "We are preparing additional initiatives aimed at drastically reducing greenhouse gases."


In the social domain, to rebuild the social safety net disrupted by the global pandemic, SK Siltron continues to expand social contribution activities such as launching volunteer groups, regular blood donations, and free lunch sharing. In addition, efforts are underway to realize customer satisfaction based on quality management, promote co-prosperity with partner companies to improve supply chain sustainability, and build a corporate culture based on diversity and inclusion. The company is also reviewing the appointment of outside directors and strengthening disclosure systems, thereby enhancing the transparency of management activities.


Jang Yong-ho, President of SK Siltron, stated, "We plan to continuously communicate with customers and the public based on this sustainability management report and financial story," adding, "Through this, we will take the lead in creating not only a sustainable company but also a sustainable society."
