Return of Russian Ambassador to the US... Outcomes of US-Russia Summit

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] Anatoly Antonov, the Russian ambassador to the United States, is returning to Washington D.C. after the US-Russia summit. When US President Joe Biden called Russian President Vladimir Putin a murderer and the two countries were at odds, Ambassador Antonov returned to his home country.

According to foreign media on the 20th, Ambassador Antonov departed through Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport in the morning to go to Washington D.C.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Ambassador Antonov will resume his ambassadorial duties starting next week.

Ambassador Antonov returned in March as a protest against the United States amid mutual harsh criticisms between the US and Russia. President Biden called President Putin a murderer, and President Putin responded, "If you are ugly, there is a saying not to get angry when looking in the mirror."

Following the US-Russia summit held in Geneva, Switzerland, where both leaders evaluated the discussions positively, Ambassador Antonov also decided to return.
