Gangnam Single-Person Household Community Center STAY.G Hosts Nutrition Education and Cooking Classes Linked with 'Social Dining'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) is recruiting 15 participants by July 1 for the “I Can Eat Well Alone: 1st Session of Creating My Own Healthy Meal Table” program, which will be held three times in July targeting single-person households.
The district planned this project to help single-person households manage their dietary habits and improve nutritional imbalance. It is linked with the “Social Dining” program of the Gangnam Single-Person Household Community Center STAY.G, combining on-site classes and non-face-to-face classes via Zoom.
Cooking researcher Noh Go-eun is in charge of the first session. On the 8th, she will give a lecture on the current status of adult dietary habits and meal composition plans. On the 15th, there will be a practical session on creating a healthy meal table based on food compatibility, followed by a practical session on the 22nd using seasonal ingredients to create a healthy meal table.
The program consists of a total of four sessions held every Thursday, and applications must be submitted at least one week before the start of each session. The second session in August, “Creating My Own Low-Sodium Meal Table,” will be led by dietary instructor Choi Su-jin. The third session in September, “Creating My Own Fermented Meal Table” (Master Kim Eon-jeong), and the fourth session in October, “Creating My Own Low-Sugar Meal Table” (Chef Lee Jin-ho), are also scheduled.
Any single-person household resident of Gangnam-gu or worker in Gangnam-gu can participate. Applications can be made through the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center website or the Gangnam Single-Person Household Community Center STAY.G. For each practical training session, one participant will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis to join the lecture on-site.
