[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do held a practical council meeting on fishing vessel safety on the 18th at the Goseong branch of the Gyeongsangnam-do Fisheries Safety Technology Institute.

The Practical Council on Fishing Vessel Safety was established in 2018 to strengthen the role of safety policy councils among disaster response agencies at the metropolitan level.

Its main functions are the prevention of fishing vessel safety accidents and the establishment of a rapid response system. It is regularly operated more than twice a year.

At this meeting, each agency presented their achievements and plans for preventing fishing vessel accidents, shared regional trends and current issues, and discussed cooperation and suggestions.

In particular, safety management measures were sought to prevent the recurrence of safety accidents related to rock fishing, which have recently occurred.

Additionally, plans for a 'maritime accident practical simulation training' to strengthen real-time response capabilities in the event of maritime accidents were also shared.

Previously, the province has continuously supplied wireless phones, automatic fire extinguishing devices, life jackets, and other equipment to prevent casualties in fishing vessel accidents.

Since last year, efforts have been made to expand the safety infrastructure to support customized safety devices and equipment for each fishing vessel.

Furthermore, starting this year, the 'Marine Safety Keeper Support Project' is being promoted to improve the safety awareness of fishermen.
