[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will conduct special inspections of facilities discharging environmental pollutants within the jurisdiction.
The city announced on the 18th that from the 21st to the 30th of this month, a joint inspection team composed of city and district officials will carry out special inspections of about 100 facilities discharging environmental pollutants within the area.
The inspections will focus on ▲ operation of unauthorized or unreported discharge facilities ▲ unauthorized discharge of wastewater ▲ neglect of malfunctioning prevention facilities, among others.
Facilities found violating regulations during the inspections will face charges and fines in accordance with relevant laws.
Last year, the city inspected facilities discharging environmental pollutants and identified those violating related laws, such as operating unauthorized facilities, resulting in prosecutions and administrative actions.
Im Muk, Director of the Environmental Greenery Bureau of the city, stated, “Each facility should inspect their environmental equipment before the heavy rains of the monsoon season to prevent environmental pollution,” and added, “The city plans to take strong measures according to relevant laws against facilities that are found to intentionally cause environmental pollution, such as unauthorized wastewater discharge.”
