[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will provide freshness and enjoyment to nearby pedestrians through a media facade on the exterior wall of the Seongsu-dong Industrial Innovation Space starting from the 16th.
A media facade is a technique that projects videos onto the exterior walls of buildings using LED lighting.
The district sensually expresses various aspects of Seongdong-gu, including the district's vision, the Seongsu urban regeneration project, and the past and present of Seongdong in the video "Miracle City," offering a unique pleasure to residents and visitors using the nearby area.
In particular, it soothes and supports the hearts of residents by showing the "COVID-19 Overcoming Support Video," the "Daehyeonsan Rose Garden" planted with 9,000 roses of 28 varieties, and "Seoul Forest," a healing spot in the city.
Recently, the district sought ways to encourage youth industries through the diverse industrial and cultural assets and functions of Seongsu-dong, and established the "Seongsu Urban Regeneration Industrial Innovation Space" at the end of 2019 to ensure stable and continuous support.
The Industrial Innovation Space consists of promotional and experiential spaces and youth innovation spaces, operating cultural content and experience centers for residents to participate, exhibiting design products and works by young artists, and supporting successful startups through a pop-up store startup school program in six fields. It is utilized as an efficient space performing complex functions such as industry, culture, entrepreneurship, and promotion.
The light parade through the media facade not only visually decorates the building exterior beautifully but also establishes the Industrial Innovation Space as a cultural and artistic hub, becoming another hot place in Seongsu-dong, explained a district official.
A pedestrian who watched the hologram for a long time said, "Due to COVID-19, there is nowhere to go with my family, but now there is a natural color attraction at a public building in the neighborhood, so I want to come again with my family to enjoy it."
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "We have prepared a special event unique to Seongsu-dong at the Industrial Innovation Space established to revitalize Seongsu-dong urban regeneration," and added, "We will continue to strive to introduce various sensory and innovative policies for youth industries together with residents."
