Gangdong-gu Library Guidebook 'City of Books Gangdong' Published

Expecting Increased Library Visits and Book Service Usage by Residents Through Booklets

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) has published "City of Books Gangdong," which provides an overview of Gangdong-gu's libraries and library services at a glance.

The library guidebook "City of Books Gangdong" was created to promote all libraries operated in Gangdong-gu, including public libraries run by the district as well as relatively lesser-known private libraries operated by individuals and private organizations, with the aim of increasing residents' accessibility to these facilities.

This booklet introduces the 11 existing public libraries and 45 small libraries, and also includes rich information about the smart libraries and book caf? libraries, which are being expanded as key projects of the district.

Designed primarily with photos of the spaces for easy viewing, the booklet allows residents to enjoy the unique charm of each library, and brief descriptions alongside the photos aim to enhance residents' interest and favorability.

Additionally, new services such as library usage methods, interlibrary loan, and direct borrowing of requested books are organized for easy reference, expected to improve user convenience.

The district distributes the "City of Books Gangdong" booklet mainly through public institutions easily accessible to residents, and it is also available on the Gangdong-gu Library website.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, "I hope residents feel the charm of libraries, each holding different stories through books, and visit the libraries near their homes. Gangdong-gu will continue to do its best to create libraries where books and people coexist, and further develop into the 'City of Books Gangdong.'"
