Search and Seizure of Daejeon City Council Member's Home and Office over 'Speculation Allegations'

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The police conducted a search and seizure at the residence and office of Councilor A of Daejeon City Council, who is suspected of real estate speculation.

According to the Daejeon Police Agency on the 17th, the Special Investigation Unit for Real Estate Speculation sent about 10 investigators to Councilor A's residence and office to secure materials such as meeting minutes related to the Yeonchuk District in Daedeok-gu.

The police reportedly conducted the search and seizure on the grounds that Councilor A violated the Act on the Prevention of Corruption and the Establishment and Operation of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.

Councilor A is suspected of purchasing houses and land near the Innovation City development site under family members' names, based on information obtained during legislative activities predicting that the Yeonchuk District would be designated as a planned site for Innovation City development.

After analyzing the materials secured through the search and seizure, the police are expected to summon Councilor A for investigation.
