[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] EM Korea, a company specializing in precision parts processing in the energy sector, is showing strong stock performance. This appears to be highlighted by the fact that Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung is collaborating with Linde, an overseas gas company that attracted an investment of approximately 1.7 trillion KRW to establish a hydrogen ecosystem.
As of 2:15 PM on the 17th, EM Korea's stock price recorded 5,390 KRW, up 4.05% compared to the previous day. The fact that Governor Lee secured investment from Linde, with whom EM Korea has been collaborating, seems to have acted as a positive factor.
On the 16th, Governor Lee, Pyeongtaek Mayor Jeong Jang-seon, and Linde Korea Chairman Seong Baek-seok jointly signed an investment agreement at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office to mutually cooperate in establishing hydrogen charging stations and industrial gas facilities. Sanjib Ramba, Linde's Chief Operating Officer (COO), attended via video conference from the United States.
Accordingly, Linde will invest approximately 1.5 billion USD (about 1.7 trillion KRW) to install hydrogen charging stations and newly build or expand industrial gas facilities in Gyeonggi Province. They also plan to lead the creation of a hydrogen ecosystem by installing gaseous and liquid hydrogen charging stations centered on major cities in Gyeonggi Province.
Previously, in 2016, EM Korea's subsidiary EM Solution signed a cooperation agreement with Linde Korea for the hydrogen charging station business. According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system, EM Korea purchased hydrogen station parts worth about 1.9 billion KRW from Linde Korea and others in the first quarter of this year.
Among these factors, Governor Lee's ranking first in the suitability survey for the next presidential candidate also seems to have had a positive impact. In the nationwide indicator survey (NBS) for the third week of June, jointly conducted by four polling agencies?Embrain Public, K-Stat Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research?25% of respondents chose Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung as the most suitable next president, followed by former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl at 24%.
This survey was conducted over three days from the 14th to the 16th, contacting 3,674 men and women aged 18 and over nationwide, with 1,004 respondents (response rate 27.3%). It was conducted via telephone interviews using 100% mobile phone virtual numbers, and the sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
