[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Heo Seong-wook, Director of the Network Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, announced on the 17th that he visited Hangang Media High School and held meetings with eight specialized high schools to explore policies and support measures for nurturing prospective talent in the broadcasting media field.

Since 2016, the Ministry of Science and ICT has supported employment competency enhancement by providing customized practical training focused on field internships for specialized high school students through career and vocational education in the broadcasting media sector.

Before the meeting, Heo Seong-wook toured the broadcasting media career and vocational education site at Hangang Media High School. Professor Yoon Myung-jin of Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts gave a presentation on "Measures for nurturing prospective talent in the rapidly changing media environment."

Teachers and students participating in the meeting requested the expansion of industry-academia linked curricula that provide practical help for specialized high school students' career and employment preparation.

To strengthen educational support for specialized high school students, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was also signed between the Korea Radio Promotion Association, the government’s human resource training project executing agency, and specialized high schools. The association will cooperate to ▲ jointly develop and operate broadcasting media career and vocational education programs ▲ activate on-site industrial training for internships and employment support ▲ establish a system utilizing out-of-school educational resources to support the credit system of vocational high schools ▲ provide opportunities for exchange and cooperation between industry professionals and prospective talent.
