Damyang-gun 'Our Family Ha(夏)iting' Program Successfully Concluded

Enhancing Conflict Resolution Skills and Establishing Proper Parenting Attitudes for Parents of 38 Youth Families in the District

[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Damyang County Youth Counseling Welfare Center announced on the 17th that it conducted a non-face-to-face parent education program and a drive-in theater viewing for parents and children over two days, from the 15th to the 16th, targeting 38 families in the area.

The two-day program, held under the name "Our Family Ha(夏)iting," carries the meaning of a healthy and harmonious summer night gift for local families.

In the parent education program, content was delivered on understanding adolescents' communication styles and how to praise children, receiving great responses from parents who strive for their children's healthy growth despite busy daily lives.

The drive-in theater program provided an opportunity for positive communication to overcome COVID-19 blues and enhance intimacy between adolescents and parents exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 situation by watching the family movie "Cruella" within the car space.

One participating family said, "It was good to be able to directly ask and hear about questions we usually had regarding child-rearing," adding, "Due to COVID-19, it was difficult to watch movies with family, but watching a movie inside the car and being able to talk freely made it a meaningful time."

A center official said, "We hope this served as a comforting time for local families exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 situation," and added, "We will continue to provide various education and programs to offer opportunities for emotional exchange between adolescents and parents."
