[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man in his 30s who threatened to distribute his partner's nude photos on the Ilbe (Ilgan Best Storage) website when she demanded a breakup and repeatedly committed assault and verbal abuse after registering their marriage was sentenced to a suspended prison term.

According to the court on the 17th, Judge Park Jung-gil of Criminal Division 11 at the Seoul Eastern District Court sentenced Lee (30), who was indicted on charges of threats and assault, to six months in prison with a two-year suspension and ordered 40 hours of community service.

Judge Park stated, "The nature of the crime is serious, and the pain suffered by the victim does not seem light," adding, "Lee also has a history of similar violent offenses." He further noted, "Considering that the photos were not taken against the victim's will and were not actually distributed."

Lee is accused of threatening to distribute A's nude photos stored on his phone to the far-right internet community Ilgan Best Storage or to family and acquaintances when A demanded a breakup around January 2019.

Lee and A registered their marriage in April of the same year, but from the day of registration, Lee reportedly repeatedly assaulted and verbally abused A, hitting her cheeks, mouth, and head multiple times, accusing her of lying.
