20s Man Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Elementary Student Picked Up via SNS

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] A man in his 20s who approached an elementary school student through social networking services (SNS) and sexually assaulted her in a vehicle has been arrested by the police.

On the 16th, the Women and Juvenile Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they had booked Mr. A, in his late 20s, without detention on charges of statutory sexual assault of a minor.

Mr. A is suspected of taking Ms. B, a student at an elementary school in Incheon, to Ganghwa Island on the 9th and sexually assaulting her by touching various parts of her body inside the car. Investigations revealed that Mr. A had built a relationship with Ms. B through SNS communication before meeting her in person.

Ms. B later disclosed the incident during consultations with her school, and the police identified Mr. A based on records from Ms. B’s mobile phone. The police plan to conduct further investigations to determine if there are other victims besides Ms. B and to uncover any additional crimes committed by Mr. A.
