Since Last Year, Emergency Care Support Team Formed... Providing COVID-19 Care Services for Over 600 Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Social Service Institute announced on the 17th that since March last year, it has formed its own Emergency Care Support Team to respond to the spread of COVID-19 and has been providing emergency care services for elderly and disabled individuals whose care services were at risk of being interrupted due to COVID-19.
The Emergency Care Support Team has provided services for 12,466 hours to 55 users over 619 days so far. This is the result of providing emergency care services by care personnel accompanying elderly and disabled individuals admitted to Seoul's quarantine facilities, in addition to the existing home visit nursing care and disability activity support services.
Gu In-su, a nursing caregiver at the Seoul Social Service Institute, participated in the Emergency Care Support Team from March last year immediately after the outbreak of COVID-19, providing emergency care services for 744 hours over 37 days, contributing to COVID-19 response and prevention of its spread, and was awarded the Prime Minister's Commendation as a COVID-19 response merit recipient.
He was recognized for his contribution in preventing care gaps caused by COVID-19 by providing 24-hour daily life support inside quarantine facilities alongside elderly individuals admitted to Seoul's quarantine facilities due to self-isolation from contact with confirmed cases and cohort quarantine facility transfers.
Nursing caregiver Gu In-su said, “I am honored to receive this award, and I thank my fellow nursing caregivers and all staff who worked hard to provide wholehearted services,” adding, “I will continue to devote myself to the services I am responsible for and do my best in the given tasks for a beautiful journey with the users.”
Lee Hae-woo, Acting CEO of the Seoul Social Service Institute, said, “I sincerely congratulate nursing caregiver Gu In-su on his award, and I believe this award is the result of the dedication of all Social Service Institute staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes every moment,” adding, “Until the day COVID-19 ends, we will not let our guard down and will do our utmost to be a reliable companion to users in need.”
