On the 16th, according to Pakistani media such as Geo News and foreign news agencies, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the Information Minister of Sindh province in southern Pakistan, stated the day before, "SIM cards of unvaccinated individuals will soon be blocked." Once SIM card usage is blocked, phone calls and data usage will become impossible.
Prior to Sindh province, the northern Punjab province also announced it would implement similar measures.
The populations of Punjab and Sindh provinces are approximately 110 million and 48 million respectively, accounting for 74% of Pakistan's total population of 210 million. Earlier, Sindh province also announced measures to reduce salaries and deny promotion opportunities for unvaccinated public officials.
