[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] It has been confirmed that the family of a man in his 20s who died after being subjected to cruel treatment by two men in their 20s claiming to be friends at an officetel in Seoul filed a complaint against the suspects for assault last November.

On the 16th, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul stated, "On April 30th of this year, the family of the deceased A reported him missing to the Daegu Dalseong Police Station, and last November, A's family filed a complaint on behalf of the victim against the suspects for assault at the Daegu Dalseong Police Station." They added, "The case was later transferred to the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul and was dismissed on the 27th of last month."

They continued, "We are investigating the missing person and complaint cases as they are highly related to the motive for the murder," and "We are also reviewing the process of the already closed case."

At around 6 a.m. on the 13th, the police responded to a report and discovered a 20-year-old male victim found dead naked at an officetel in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.

The police urgently arrested two individuals who were living together with the victim at the officetel, claiming to be his friends, on charges of confinement resulting in death. After confirming that the victim was malnourished and underweight, with signs of physical assault on his body, the police changed the charges against them to murder and applied for an arrest warrant.

On the previous day (the 15th), Judge Jeong In-jae, in charge of warrants at the Seoul Western District Court, conducted a pre-arrest hearing for the suspects Ahn Mo (20) and Kim Mo (20), who are accused of murder, and issued arrest warrants citing concerns over evidence tampering and flight risk.

The victim had a disability that made daily life somewhat difficult, and it is known that the three lived together due to financial issues.
