Damyang County Office Chief Decides on the Death in the Line of Duty of Late Officer Oh Jeong-gwan Who Worked Hard Against COVID-19 Damyang County will hold a funeral service led by the county governor on the 17th for the late Officer Oh Jeong-gwan, who died in the line of duty while striving to protect the lives of county residents from COVID-19 and to prevent the spread of infectious diseases within the region.

[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Jeonnam Damyang-gun announced on the 16th that it will hold a funeral ceremony led by the county governor on the 17th for the late Officer Oh Jeonggwan, who died in the line of duty while striving to protect the lives of county residents from COVID-19 and to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the region.

Officer Oh Jeonggwan had been working as a health administration officer since August 2018, dedicating himself to tuberculosis eradication and improving medical services in rural fishing and farming villages. In particular, last year when COVID-19 occurred, he worked hard to prevent the spread of the infectious disease in the community by operating the health center’s screening clinic and quarantine facilities.

Furthermore, from November 2020, when he was assigned as the infectious disease control officer, he oversaw all aspects of quarantine and vaccination, managing and operating the COVID-19 vaccination program and vaccine supply for all county residents.

Officer Oh worked day and night to ensure the safety of local residents, achieving a high vaccination rate of 98.1% for the first dose among seniors aged 75 and older, despite difficulties in vaccine supply.

Accordingly, Damyang-gun decided to posthumously promote him from officer to senior officer and plans to hold a funeral ceremony led by the county governor at the county office plaza, attended by bereaved family members and public officials, to mourn the late officer who worked diligently.

Meanwhile, the late officer is survived by his wife and two sons, and according to the wishes of the bereaved family, he will be buried at Oryong Park in Mujeong-myeon.
