[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] On the 16th, the Public Procurement Service announced that 15 companies will be exempt from delivery inspections for 252 products certified with the Korean Industrial Standards (KS).
The selected products will not be subject to inspections by specialized procurement material institutions or the Public Procurement Service for two years starting from the 1st of next month.
Among these, the Public Procurement Service inspection refers to sensory inspections and physicochemical tests conducted by inspection officers or inspectors from accredited testing and inspection institutions designated as professional inspection agencies, to verify whether the procured goods have been delivered according to contract specifications.
Through the exemption from delivery inspections, selected companies will be able to reduce inspection fees by 5.9 million KRW and inspection days by 106 days.
The selection of products eligible for delivery inspection exemption is conducted twice a year, and applications for the second half of the year will be accepted from October 1 to November.
Eligible applicants are products certified with KS and goods manufactured by companies with excellent quality management and quality competitiveness.
Kim Ji-wook, Director of the Procurement Quality Institute, stated, “The exemption from delivery inspections will help alleviate management difficulties faced by companies due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.”
