[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Gabia's stock price is soaring. This is interpreted as being influenced by the fact that Yoon Seok-yeol, a leading opposition presidential candidate and former Prosecutor General, met with accountant Kim Kyung-yul (co-representative of Economic Democracy 21), co-author of the so-called ‘Cho Kuk Black Book,’ to discuss ‘prosecutorial reform’ and ‘political reform.’
As of 1:25 PM on the 16th, Gabia is trading at 17,850 KRW, up 21.43% compared to the previous trading day.
Several media outlets reported that last week, former Prosecutor General Yoon invited accountant Kim to his home in Seocho-dong, Seoul, for dinner. Kim said, “We met through an acquaintance who knows both me and former Prosecutor General Yoon,” and added, “We talked about prosecutorial reform, political reform, and related topics.”
Meanwhile, there are expectations that former Prosecutor General Yoon may launch his presidential bid as early as the end of this month. When Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, said that the presidential primary is scheduled to begin in August as planned, Yoon’s camp responded, “It will not conflict with Leader Lee’s timetable.”
