Recruiting 12 Village Reporters to Share Urban Regeneration News in Junghwa 2-dong, Jungnang-gu

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is recruiting 12 members for the ‘Village Reporters’ team to vividly deliver various news from ‘Miin Village’ in Junghwa 2-dong, where a preliminary urban regeneration project is underway.

‘Miin Village’ in Junghwa 2-dong (around Jungwhadong 296) means a village that greets with a smile. The residential environment is aging and the commercial district is declining, highlighting the need for urban regeneration.

As a result of residents coming together, the area was selected last year as a preliminary urban regeneration project site, securing a project budget of 100 million KRW. The preliminary urban regeneration project is a stepping stone to strengthen residents’ capabilities so that the area can be selected as an urban regeneration activation zone in the future.

The Village Reporters will directly cover and widely share news related to community activities and urban regeneration in Junghwa 2-dong. Through their activities, it is expected to expand communication opportunities among residents and build a consensus on urban regeneration.

The recruitment targets are ▲ residents within Jungnang-gu as of the announcement date ▲ those interested in community activities and village media ▲ those able to participate in regular planning meetings and reporting activities at least once a month ▲ those able to attend media education. A total of 12 people will be recruited, with 4 people each in three fields: article writing, photography, and video production and editing.

Residents wishing to participate can visit and submit their application forms to the Junghwa 2-dong community base ‘Hope Darak’ (Dongil-ro 123-gil 13, 2nd floor) from the 21st to the 25th.

Interviews will be conducted on the 30th, and the final results will be announced on July 2.

Selected reporters will receive specialized media education before starting full activities. The education consists of content discovery and writing (8 sessions), photography (6 sessions), and video editing and production training (10 sessions).

After completion, they will participate in producing a monthly village newsletter and videos until the end of the year. For further inquiries, contact the Jungnang-gu Office Urban Regeneration Division or the Junghwa 2-dong community base.

In addition to the reporters’ activities, the district plans to successfully lead the preliminary urban regeneration project through the operation of the community base space. At the Junghwa 2-dong community base ‘Hope Darak,’ residents regularly gather to discuss local issues, hold small group meetings, and provide education for the elderly.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “The Village Reporters are a very meaningful activity where residents actively participate to record and lead changes in the village,” adding, “We will strive to advance to the selection as an activation zone through the successful promotion of the preliminary project.”
