The 2nd Songpa Youth Festival 'Cosmos' Held

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) will hold the 2nd Songpa Youth Festival 'SMOS' of 2021 for 8 days from the 19th to the 26th to support youths going through difficult times due to COVID-19.

This year's festival theme, 'Cosmos,' is an acronym for 'Corona Stop, All Smile,' symbolizing hope and encouragement to overcome COVID-19, inspired by the cosmos flowers that bloom from June, embodying the festival's significance.

Especially this year, to safely enjoy the festival during the COVID-19 era, it will be held through both online and offline programs. Notably, it includes the 25th Saessak Children's Song Festival and experiential programs that families as well as youths can participate in together.

First, the 'Saessak Children's Song Festival,' held since 1997, is Songpa-gu's representative youth music contest where elementary school students compete. Fifteen teams that passed the preliminary round on June 9 will perform in the final round on the 19th, which will be conducted as a no-audience recorded broadcast.

Also, experiential programs such as ▲'Songpa Attractions I Found' (plogging), ▲'Visible Radio Cosmos' held at Seongnaecheon Mulbit Square, and online programs including ▲Songpa Fashionista ▲Failure Writing Contest ▲Song Quiz on the Block are expected to attract high participation from youths.

Youths wishing to participate in the Songpa Youth Festival programs can check detailed information on the official Songpa Youth Festival website and the websites of each youth center in Songpa-gu (Songpa, Macheon, Jamsil Youth Centers, Future Education Center Ogeum Hub, Youth Support Center Kkumdeulim, totaling 5 locations).

Mayor Park Seong-su of Songpa-gu said, “We send comfort and encouragement to youths exhausted from long indoor life due to online classes caused by COVID-19,” adding, “Through this festival, we hope not only youths but entire families can share empathy and enjoy cultural experiences, having a moment of healing.”
