According to the Dalseong Police Station in Daegu on the 16th, at around 1:10 PM on the 15th, a man in his 50s, Mr. A, threatened a woman in her 50s, Ms. B, with a weapon and attempted to kidnap her at Dalseongbo Park in Okpo-eup, Dalseong-gun, Daegu.
When Ms. B resisted and the attempt failed, Mr. A drove an SUV about 8 km away and threatened a woman in her 60s, Ms. C, in the same manner.
Ms. C resisted, and he fled by car toward Seongju, Gyeongbuk Province.
At around 3 PM, the police found the suspect’s vehicle in a mountain forest in Daegam-myeon, Seongju-gun, and after searching the nearby area, they transported Mr. A, who was found dead, to a hospital.
A police official stated, "The suspect and the victims did not know each other," and added, "The victims sustained injuries while resisting, but their lives are not in danger."
The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident with the victims and others involved.
