Bando Construction Signs MOU to Introduce 3D Printing Eco-Friendly Construction Method... Accelerating 'ESG Management'

Bando Construction announced on the 15th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for technological cooperation in '3D Printing Construction (3DCP: 3D Concrete Printing)' with 3D printing construction company Hysis at Bando Construction headquarters on the 8th.

Bando Construction Signs MOU to Introduce 3D Printing Eco-Friendly Construction Method... Accelerating 'ESG Management' At the signing ceremony, Bando Construction President Park Hyun-il (third from the left) and Hysys CEO Jung Gu-seop (fourth from the left), along with Michael Woods, CEO of Black Buffalo 3D, and executives from each company attended.

Bando Construction will introduce construction 3D printers developed by Hysis for buildings and landscaping facilities within apartment complexes, receiving comprehensive services from planning and construction to post-management. The two companies will jointly research and develop 3DCP construction methods. Additionally, through collaboration with Black Buffalo 3D, which is leading the 3D architectural printing business in the United States, they have established a foothold for entering overseas markets.

Construction 3D printers enable effective reductions in construction costs and periods compared to traditional methods and allow the creation of curved four-dimensional spaces. Overseas, including the United States, Germany, and China, cases of building construction using 3D printers have already been pioneered. Major domestic universities and construction companies are also actively developing 3D printing technology.

Hysis was the first in Korea to develop a construction 3D printer and successfully printed buildings. In January of this year, they developed the world's largest construction 3D printer capable of constructing a 42-pyeong × 4-story scale building and successfully exported it to the United States, actively knocking on the door of the global market.

At the signing ceremony, Bando Construction President Park Hyun-il, Hysis CEO Jung Gu-seop, Black Buffalo 3D CEO Michael Woods, and executives from each company attended. President Park said, "Through this MOU, we expect not only mutual growth and win-win development with Hysis but also an upgrade in the product power of the Bando Yubora brand."

Meanwhile, Bando Construction is expanding the scope of ESG management by participating not only in eco-friendly 3D printing but also in regional cultural facility development projects. This year, they proactively introduced ESG management, formed a dedicated TF team, and are promoting the establishment of an ESG operation system throughout the company. Through the dedicated TF, practitioners from each department review elements for ESG management across various fields, and along with this, they have established detailed plans for ESG management including ▲corporate structure and financial soundness ▲activation of eco-friendly and smart construction ▲mutual growth with partner companies ▲social contribution activities linked with the Bando Cultural Foundation.
