[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Korea Marine Promotion Corporation announced that it has delivered 10,000 KF94 masks to senior welfare centers in Busan (Haeundae-gu, Saha-gu, Buk-gu) to help the local community overcome COVID-19.
The masks will be distributed to elderly people in Busan who collect waste paper and recyclables, as well as vulnerable groups who feel a financial burden when purchasing masks.
This mask support is meaningful as part of efforts to overcome COVID-19 by caring for the elderly in the region. Last month, the Marine Promotion Corporation supported IT equipment for local children's centers. Due to the expansion of remote classes caused by COVID-19, the demand for children's online learning increased, but the centers lacked sufficient IT equipment, making online learning support difficult. Accordingly, a total of 24 IT devices worth about 15 million KRW, including 10 laptops, 8 desktops, and 6 tablet PCs, were provided to 21 children's centers in Haeundae-gu.
Hwang Hoseon, president of the corporation, said, "We delivered masks to contribute to preventing infectious diseases in the local community and to help the elderly engage in smooth social activities," adding, "We will continue to fulfill the social responsibilities of public institutions through social contribution activities together with the local community."
The Marine Promotion Corporation plans to continue various social contribution activities this year as well, following last year.
