Number of Unauthorized Livestock Manure Discharges and Illegal Stockpiling Violations Increased Annually to 57 Cases in 2020
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 15th that it will conduct a special inspection until the end of June targeting unauthorized discharge and stockpiled livestock farms and facilities over the past three years in preparation for the summer rainy season.
The specific inspection items include maintenance of drainage channels around livestock barns and livestock manure treatment facilities, prevention of livestock manure runoff, acts of intermediate discharge or installation of intermediate discharge facilities (such as secret discharge outlets), unauthorized spreading of liquid fertilizer, and farmland surrounding livestock barns.
According to the provincial investigation, the number of violations related to unauthorized discharge and stockpiling of livestock manure at livestock farms in the province has been increasing annually, with 51 cases in 2018, 52 cases in 2019, and 57 cases in 2020.
This special inspection will be conducted as a preemptive management measure targeting livestock farms that violated regulations in the past three years, and if serious violations are found, the relevant department will be immediately notified and legal action will be taken.
