Implementation of RCS-Based Messaging Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 15th that it has implemented customer text messaging services through Rich Communication Services (hereinafter RCS).
RCS is the next-generation standard messaging protocol established by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association. The differences between RCS and traditional messaging services include ▲the Brand Home feature that allows verification of the sending company's logo information and ▲the ability to use various message formats to enhance delivery effectiveness. KB Kookmin Bank's adoption of RCS is the first among domestic banks and plans to gradually expand its application scope.
In particular, the Brand Home is available only to service-certified companies, which is expected to be effective in preventing customer fraud caused by smishing and other phishing messages. Even if customers do not save the number, corporate information such as the company logo and name appears as the sender's number, and touching the profile image on the message screen displays information set by the company, such as company introduction and phone number.
Additionally, without exposing URLs, a single touch enables web page navigation and app installation, enhancing message delivery effectiveness and improving customer convenience. RCS is supported on Samsung Electronics devices running Android 9 or later and LG Electronics devices running Android 10 or later.
A KB Kookmin Bank official stated, “We will continue to improve our customer messaging services and strive to enhance customer trust.”
