Daegu City announced on the 15th at midnight that 16 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were reported.
By address, there are 4 in Dalseo-gu, 4 in Suseong-gu, 3 in Dalseong-gun, 3 in Buk-gu, 1 in Nam-gu, and 1 in Seo-gu.
Among the new confirmed cases, 3 are related to entertainment pubs confirmed to be infected with the UK variant virus. All were confirmed positive during self-quarantine or before release from quarantine as part of a chain infection.
This brings the total related confirmed cases to 371. Among all confirmed cases, 80 are entertainment business workers, 108 are customers of the establishments, and 183 are identified as secondary infections.
One more secondary infection case was reported related to the Bar on Deulan-gil in Suseong-gu. The cumulative confirmed cases increased to 83 after testing positive during self-quarantine.
Additionally, 2 more cases were added related to a Tarot club meeting. On the 27th of last month, 7 club members gathered at a villa in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, all of whom were confirmed positive, leading to chain infections among family members and others, totaling 18 cases.
Along with this, one confirmed case each was added related to a church located in Bon-dong, Dalseo-gu; a bathhouse in Manchon-dong, Suseong-gu; a department store in Jung-gu; and an IT company in Seongseo Industrial Complex, Dalseo-gu. The cumulative totals are 24, 15, 12, and 22 respectively.
In addition, 4 people were classified as contacts of existing confirmed cases, and 2 people have unknown infection routes, with epidemiological investigations ongoing by quarantine authorities.
Currently, 321 confirmed patients are undergoing isolation treatment, admitted across 9 hospitals nationwide and residential treatment centers.
The regional bed occupancy rate is 39.4% for mild and moderate patients, 28.2% for severe patients, averaging 38.0%, indicating some availability.
Accordingly, the cumulative confirmed cases in Daegu have increased to a total of 10,454.
Meanwhile, although not included in today's statistics, one additional confirmed case was reported after midnight involving a user of a fitness center located in a mixed-use apartment commercial area in Beomeo-dong, Suseong-gu.
At this fitness center, one member working as an academy instructor was confirmed positive on the 10th, followed by an additional infection on the 13th, bringing the cumulative confirmed cases to 3.
The city’s quarantine authorities are conducting diagnostic tests on about 600 visitors who visited from the 6th to the 10th, around the symptom onset date (8th) of the first confirmed case.
