[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Shinsegae Food announced on the 15th that No Brand Burger has launched a unique side menu called ‘Sugar Butter Fries.’
‘Sugar Butter Fries’ are made by frying potatoes that are more than twice as thick as the regular fries sold on the market. They are topped with sweet butter syrup and Grana Padano cheese, allowing customers to enjoy a combination of sweet and salty flavors.
Additionally, to preserve the shape and taste of the fries as much as possible, a special packaging was developed instead of the usual paper bag used for fries. The price is 2,500 won. When ordering a set, customers can upgrade from the basic fries to ‘Sugar Butter Fries’ by paying an additional 1,000 won.
No Brand noticed an increasing number of customers seeking unique combinations. In fact, the ‘Pepperoni Burger,’ which uses pepperoni?commonly used as a pizza topping?in a burger, saw a 56% increase in sales in its second week (May 27?June 3) compared to its first week (May 20?26). Since the beginning of this month, more than 5,000 units have been sold daily.
Meanwhile, No Brand Burger is a cost-effective hamburger franchise brand launched by Shinsegae Food in August 2019. Prices range from 1,900 to 5,300 won for single items and 3,900 to 6,900 won for sets (burger, fries, and drink). The brand’s popularity is driven by its patties, which are 20% thicker than those of other burger brands, providing a rich texture; consumer trends favoring non-face-to-face dining such as takeout and delivery; and reasonable prices without unnecessary markups. Last month, just one year and six months after its launch, No Brand Burger opened its 100th store.
