STX Engine Promotes Localization of Eco-Friendly Ship Engines and Equipment L35/44DF Generator Engine Under Test Run

[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] STX Engine, a specialized engine manufacturer, has decided to promote the localization of eco-friendly ship engines and equipment. This move is interpreted as an effort to participate in the government's policy to systematically support the development of eco-friendly ship technologies that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 70% compared to conventional fuel ships by 2030.

On the 15th, STX Engine announced that overcoming the difficulties faced over the past decade requires bold investment and challenges in new businesses, and they plan to revive by securing government public vessel projects.

STX Engine expects that if their engine is applied to the 3,900-ton LNG-powered fishery patrol vessel, for which equipment selection is scheduled this month, the eco-friendliness of domestic public vessels will be gradually promoted, transitioning from diesel to LNG, and from LNG to hydrogen and ammonia fuel propulsion.

The main engine STX Engine proposes for the fishery patrol vessel is the 6L35/44DF Common Rail engine, which features stable operation without performance degradation in low-load areas. It has already secured supply and operational records in Europe, Canada, and other regions.

An STX Engine official said, "We hope to contribute to the government's eco-friendly ship transition plan and also help the depressed local economy as well as equipment manufacturers in Gyeongnam and Busan."
